GSEI Alumna Wins Grant to Start Her Own Youth Program

Global Social Entrepreneurship Institute (GSEI) 2015 participant, Andreea (Deea) Cosma, recently won an Erasmus+ Youth Exchange grant to fund her new program Embrace Nature Through Entrepreneurship (ENTE). ENTE is a youth exchange that aims to increase students’ level of consciousness on the topics of environmental stewardship and social entrepreneurship. “We decided to combine these two fields in order to ensure that the information, attitudes, and abilities that the youngsters acquire during the project are applied to the real world,” Deea explains. “They will create and implement new projects and social businesses constructed, with the help of our experts, during the youth exchange.” During the program, ENTE participants will create feasible and sustainable ideas meant to help and protect the environment and aim to have a local impact on their communities.
Deea’s experiences during GSEI had a huge influence on the creation of ENTE, which is based on a project she developed during her time in Bloomington. “It’s the first big project that I’ve created and organized, and I definitely see it as a follow-up to my experience with GSEI. I learned so much there about social entrepreneurship, and my personal project [at GSEI] was based on environmental protection, too.” Participants will be selected through a collaboration between 7 partners from Romania, Bulgaria, Poland, Greece, France, and Estonia. 30 participants, aged 18 to 25, will attend the program in Romania for 9 days. The first program will run in early April 2017.
