CIBER Focus Special Series: Business & Peace
The Crucial Role of Business with Dr. John Forrer
November 18, 2016
In Part 5 of our ongoing conversation about the role business can and should play in the world’s peace processes, Dr. John Forrer shares how businesses can work together with other stakeholders to take an active role in promoting peace by building trust and stability. There is great potential for governmental arms and private companies to form lasting, impactful partnerships but only if each side is able to adapt their methods and understanding to the other.
The ability for business—entrepreneurs, SMEs, and multinationals alike—to act as a stabilizing force in the world has been changing and leading to exciting research and action. On October 3, IU CIBER kicked off a month-long discussion on the role business can play in peace-making, peace-building, and peace-keeping. Held in partnership with the Kelley School of Business, IU Office of the Vice President for International Affairs, the Institute for Defense & Business, and the IU School of Global and International Studies, the month-long conversation brings together representatives from business, government, academics, and NGOs to examine this topic in a free and public discussion. A recording of October 3’s conference sessions and continuing conversations throughout the month can be found online at http://snipbfp.org/2ef8QpB.
