Lessons Learned — A GBIer’s Takeaway on Time Management

That was the first lesson I learned at the Kelley School of Business. During the Global Business Institute program, I learned a lot of different lessons about personal life, professionalism, and entrepreneurship — and the most valuable lesson was “time management.” Your attitude towards time represents your personality, so you have to make it sharp. For example, if you have a 9:00AM lecture you have to be there at least at 8:50AM to choose a compatible seat, and to prepare yourself and your tools for the lecture. The professors too will have to come at least by 8:55AM to prepare their slides and board and to make sure that everything is ready to go at 9:00AM sharp.
Also in this program, I learned how to manage my time because my time was limited. There was limited time for breakfast, lunch, and teamwork before the deadlines, so I had to make use of it and make every single moment effective for me and for my teammates. I will not lie and tell you that time management was easy, of course not. It was very hard in the beginning but after a short period of time I adapted to it and enjoyed it. I enjoyed making use of every single moment, and by doing so I realized that every day I have a lot of time and many things to do. That’s what makes anyone more successful in the future – using every single moment and managing it. It’s like what we heard at Kelley: Go from Moment to Momentum.
