CIBER Focus Special Series: Business & Peace
Corporate Governance with Richard Buangan
November 30, 2016
In the 8th and final part of our ongoing conversation about the role business can and should play in the world’s peace processes, Richard Buangan shares how businesses can use their digital presence and multi-cultural assets to impact global understanding. Businesses are already creating dialogues of shared value when they connect with the local markets to sell their products. By taking these conversations to their digital platforms and building on the digital sphere’s many relationship networks, they help foster a much-needed conversation and cultivate person-to-person connections.
The ability for business—entrepreneurs, SMEs, and multinationals alike—to act as a stabilizing force in the world has been changing and leading to exciting research and action. On October 3, IU CIBER kicked off a month-long discussion on the role business can play in peace-making, peace-building, and peace-keeping. Held in partnership with the Kelley School of Business, IU Office of the Vice President for International Affairs, the Institute for Defense & Business, and the IU School of Global and International Studies, the month-long conversation brings together representatives from business, government, academics, and NGOs to examine this topic in a free and public discussion. A recording of October 3rd’s conference sessions and continuing conversations throughout the month can be found online at http://snipbfp.org/2ef8QpB.
