CIBER Focus Special Series: Business & Peace
Investing in Peace with Dr. Janamitra Devan
November 14, 2016
In Part Three of our special series on Business and Peace, Dr. Janamitra Devan draws from professional expertise that spans decades and continents to examine how international investment and public-private cooperation can influence the global peace process. International organizations like the World Bank and the Business 20 offer opportunities for businesses to influence global policy and regulations to support sustainable growth in countries and communities around the world.
The ability for business—entrepreneurs, SMEs, and multinationals alike—to act as a stabilizing force in the world has been changing and leading to exciting research and action. On October 3, IU CIBER kicked off a month-long discussion on the role business can play in peace-making, peace-building, and peace-keeping. Held in partnership with the Kelley School of Business, IU Office of the Vice President for International Affairs, the Institute for Defense & Business, and the IU School of Global and International Studies, the month-long conversation brings together representatives from business, government, academics, and NGOs to examine this topic in a free and public discussion. A recording of October 3’s conference sessions and continuing conversations throughout the month can be found online at http://snipbfp.org/2ef8QpB.
