With Myanmar recently coming out of a period of almost “international hibernation”, the country is currently experiencing an exciting period of global engagement amidst a rapidly changing business environment. Entrepreneurship plays a key role in the new Myanmar, oftentimes taking shape in ways unfamiliar to Western scholars and businesses. Purpose-driven, need-based entrepreneurship is opening new opportunities and avenues every day, especially for the country’s growing number of female entrepreneurs.


In this interview, Dr. Richard Seymour draws from his many years working in entrepreneurship development in Southeast Asia, particularly in Myanmar, to share with us the state of entrepreneurship in one of the fastest growing economies in the world.

The Indiana Business Journal has recognized Sherry D. Davis as a 2016 Woman of Influence. Introducing the Class of 2016 IBJ’s Women of Influence program is in its 10th year of recognizing women who have risen to the highest levels of business, the arts and public service in central Indiana. The 2016 class includes 23 women with diverse experiences and achievements. Honorees include an advocate for children, a federal judge, higher education executives, and health professionals.
